Rolfing(R) Structural Integration
Thank you Rolfing clients.
Without even knowing about it I won something I am not technically doing. On July 29, 2011 I won third place in the Daily Bee for the best massage therapist in Bonner County. As all my clients know, Rolfing is not massage… but it is bodywork, so often bodywork is defaulted to the massage category. As the only Rolfer in the county I would win number one if there was one for Rolfers, but there isn’t.
I like winning at things I don’t do – thank you.
There is a three-year blog post by Andrew Weil, MD on the four reasons to try Rolfing. His four; pain and stress, improve your posture, release repressed emotions and diminish habitual muscle tension – match my three; stress, structural and soft tissue issues.
Dr. Weil is a great spokesperson for holistic health. Many years ago, my business partner and I were involved with Dr. Weil with the creation of our Scottsdale Institute for Health and Medicine. I first meant him when he was a keynote speaking back in the early 80’s for a Rolfing conference. He continues to impress me with his ability to articulate the benefits of holistic health. His new book on the healthcare crisis is right-on.

Jane Fritz wrote a long article for the Spokane newspaper, The Inlander. She writes about what Rolfing can do for clients. She also interviewed physicians as part of the article.

I have always been skeptical by nature. I think skepticism is healthy, and that’one of the reasons I created this site is to help people skeptical about structural integration get better answers to their questions. When I first heard about Rolfing® Structural Integration, I liked what I heard about the goals, but I couldn’t believe the expense. The price tag set alarm bells off in my head, especially with all the unsubstantiated and unprovable claims I was reading all over the internet. It sounded like extremely expensive voodoo.
