Here are videos explaining Rolfing.
Michael Solberg, MD a Dallas plastic surgeon and Rolfer, describes how Rolfing works. When I had my clinic in Scottsdale, AZ, I had plastic surgeons for clients. These fellows, without really knowing it, had a great understanding of fascia. Back then, fascia was not given much attention in anatomy classes, so not much credit was given to fascia for what it was doing. Yet without fascia surgery, plastic surgery would not be possible. Fascia allows the attachment of tissue; fascia is the web that holds everything together. (An interesting side note: Michael’s father, Ken is an old friend and “old Rolfer”. If Ken is old, that makes me old too.)
An old video of Ida Rolf, Ph.D. is a very good explanation of what occurs when injury (stress) impairs fascia, and how Rolfing releases the adhesion. Here is another old video of Ida speaking of Rolfing. These old videos are entertaining for their ancientness.

ROLFING AND STRUCTURAL INTEGRATION VIDEOS
Thanks for the post Owen.
Allow me to make a few corrections to the last entry though. I am not a Plastic Surgeon or MD. The title of the videos posted on Youtube say something like “Dallas Plastic Surgeon INTERVIEWS Rolf Practitioner”. Easy mistake due to the wording of the title, etc. This video is one of 15 that were taped in the office Dr. Sam Lam, MD who is a surgeon. Sam is a client and the owner of Willow Bend Wellness Center where we have opened the Solberg Center For Structural Integration in Plano, Texas. Sam is a huge fan of SI and actively promotes the value of Rolf’s work to many people including most of his patients. He really gets the work and, yes indeed, he does understand fascia. We have had intriguing conversations about tensegrity, integration of tissue/segements, wholism and symmetry vs balance. He understands promoting health from the inside rather than ‘health’ by chemical domination. The world is changing due to enlightened doctors like him.
Yes, my Dad (Ken Solberg) was trained by Ida and has inspired my wife, sister, brother-in-law and myself (all SI practitioners trained by Emmett and Peter at the Guild) and a whole other generation of practitioners. We are learning his wisdom regarding everything from practitioner health, body mechanics, avoiding burnout, seeing more luminous intent to Ida’s recipe, studying parallels of the effect of SI to the planet and global trends of human potential/”evolution”. He is a pretty cool guy too and still can deliver blow away sessions all day long, even though he has successfully “retired”. I will tell him you said ‘HI’, Owen.
The Solberg Center has produced 26 videos on Structural Integration so far and most of them are posted on YouTube and 16 other video sights. We really want to get the word out to the planet what SI is. We are sure tired of people syaing, “How come I have never heard of this amazing work?”. Stay tuned as it is our intention to add several new interviews, testimonials and tutorials every week to be easily accessed on the world wide web. Very soon they will all be available on our website too ( http://www.solbergcenter.com ). Cheers, Michael Solberg

Michael, sorry about the Plastic Surgeon mistake.
When I had my clinic in Scottsdale, I had a few open-minded plastic surgeons as clients and referral sources. These fellows and the other doc’s would often send their colleagues in for Rolfing. I found most doc’s being very respective to Rolfing for themselves and often for their patients.
I commend you on your marketing. You are in the perfect market for it. Here in my current town – Sandpoint, Idaho there are not nearly the numbers of people like Phoenix nor is there one plastic surgeon. There are days when I miss the excitement of working with the full range of health care professionals a big city affords.
