Blog Talk Radio interviewed me on how Rolfing can help RSD (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy) and Chronic Pain. RSD can be a very painful and debilitating condition, and there are many holistic options for chronic pain. As I mentioned on the show, Rolfing can be effective in helping people with RSD, and other chronic pain conditions, through releasing the stress and tension of the body.

The chronic tension of the body builds throughout life; you get stressed, then tense. If the tension isn’t released, it tightens up your fascia, causing pain and sometimes injuries. With chronic pain or RSD, the tension might not cause your condition, but it inevitably makes it worse.

The effects of Rolfing and structural integration are discussed in an article first written in the Chicago Tribune, then published in the Spokesman Review. The article does a good job describing Rolfing and Ida Rolf, Ph.D., its founder.

The article makes a good point –

There’s a growing community of practicing, certified Rolfers. The Rolf Institute of Structural Integration in Boulder, Colo., is the only educational facility in the country that offers Rolfing certification.

As Rolfing grows, more people are claiming to be Rolfers or “Rolfed trained.” Unfortunately, the misrepresenting what they do often leave their clients short.

It is good to see more press on Rolfing. As a profession we have been lacks in getting the word out.

After a gorgeous summer here in Sandpoint, we are entering a special time when the days are temperate and the nights are cool, the tourist are gone – we get to enjoy the beautiful environs at a slow pace.

Labor Day is when we all get back to our normal routines, school for some, “serious work” for others. For my practice there is always, a surge of clients coming in be it they were too busy in the summer or now they can be earnest about their bodies now summer is done.

Stress

The economic recession proved to be a psychological recession. For some the stress of worrying about money took a toll on them and their bodies. My first blog, www.stressedout.org because of this stress made it to #2 in Google. Honestly, for a good year, I didn’t do much with it, then I noticed it took off – I guess we are stressed.

While in Scottsdale, my business partner and I ran a Mindfulness Stress Reduction company. We were hugely successful in results and broke even finically. For years, I have wanted clients here in Sandpoint to take the class, but the closest class was Spokane. Thanks to a client, I found out these classes are now taught here. Call or email me and I can give you the details.

Enjoy your fall.
